Gary Trent got my vote, but it was hard passing on Dwight "Bo" Lamer and Ed Ratleff, both of Columbus East, as well as a vote for myself under "other".

I wouldn't be surprised if SBH passed over Trent for Jacie Sheldon, older sister of OUr own Ajay Sheldon.

I knew a guy who had to play against Herb Williams in high school.

He said Herb was "pretty good." (Williams only played 18 seasons in the NBA)

Another vote for Trent. I see he's now in second place. Come on Bobcats cast your votes! Put Gary over the top.

Now I know you're trolling because how could I forget Stow, OH is famously considered Central. Also Philadelphia, PA.

If they’re basing this only on their high school merits, I would undoubtedly go with Estaban Weaver. Saw him play a couple times for Independence and he was flat out sick.

Well, Connecticut once owned part of Ohio (the Western Reserve) and Ashtabula County in the aforementioned Western Reserve is now one of the ARC designated Ohio Appalachian counties, and, further Central Ohio folks think that all Appalachians learn the four-R's -- 'readin, 'riting,'rithmetic and the road to Columbus. Therefore, yes, I think Walter Luckett should be in this poll and should be voted #1.

That’s ok, last week they did the greatest Hs Football player to ever come from Columbus. The run away winner was Jeff Backes! Yep, I did not stutter. Jeff Backes.

Is he the son of Carl Backes, D.O., a neonatalogist?

Why did they lump boys and girls together?

Yes, and Carl Jr is Jeff’s brother. All three prominent athletes and physicians.

Thanks for confirming. I worked with Carl Sr. when he was in Athens. I thought this might be the case, since Backes is not a very common last name.

This kind of thing is ridiculous. You may be able to say who the top 25 players are. That’s it.
