Interesting read, but I put more stock in Steele's predictions.

Seems a bit overly smitten with Miami and Martin to me.

"With Candle gone, Martin's program is by far the most proven in this hard-living conference."

I find it funny that sports media talking heads are so quickly wanting to give the MAC trophy to Miami because of the money they spend.

They seem to forget 38-3, and IF Ohio and Toledo had played each other last year, Miami wouldn't be so much in the conversation.

Connelly's opinions are based on statistics and what he has to go off of currently. I don't think he's really said things here that aren't untrue. Ohio may have a better record overall than Miami since Chuck Martin has been there, but they're also about to be on the 4th coach in 6 years. It's a recipe for instability and would be shocking if Ohio could keep the pace it's been going at.

Well, friend, prepare to be shocked:

2022: 10-4, Bowl Win
2023: 10-3 Bowl Win
2024: 11-3, Bowl Win
2025: 9-4, Bowl Win

Think we're doing okay!

Way too low imo. I can tell the talking heads aren't paying attention to what we're doing.

MAC futures are up:

WMU +320
Miami +360
Toledo +400
Ohio +650
CMU +750
EMU +1400
BGSU +1600
Buffalo +1800
Akron +3000
Kent State +6000
Ball State +9000
UMass +25000

I think there is nothing too shocking here. Sac. St. in ineligible. WMU, Miami, and Toledo are favorites with Ohio and CMU considered contenders. I am a little surprised that EMU is ahead of BG and Buffalo. With as unpredictable as things are with all the turnover and UMass not being anywhere near the bottom in budget I think if I had to bet I'd take a wild chance on Kent State and UMass at those numbers. Not that I think UMass is going to be good but 250:1 when everyone in the MAC is replacing half their team every year and you are nowhere near last in resources seems questionable.

Miami and Western will be the league favorites but I’m guessing that the Bobcats will be picked close behind both of them. Ohio protects Solich field and has only one loss at home in four seasons. I don’t see them losing to Toledo at home.

Players hate Kent’s Coach.
